FAMILY: ACAVIDAE Ampelita granulosa (Féussac, 1851) The unique aspect of this Ampelita species is the coarse bristle-like periostracum covering the shell. No other species of Ampelita exhibits this characteristic. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 35-38mm Ampelita lamarei (Pfeiffer, 1853) Among the many amazing new finds in Madagascar is this newly discovered form of A. lamarei. The bold pattern of streaks across a thin dark ochre-colored periostracum is quite different than the other more well-know forms. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 37-38mm Ampelita lamarei sakalava (Angas, 1877) This subspecies is by far one of the most attractive of the genus, with its flaring white lip and flecks of golden brown cuticle-like periostracum. The population represented in this lot is a dwarf form of the species from a very remote location. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 38-41mm Ampelita (Eurystyla) julii (Fischer-Piette, Garreau & Loubresse, 1965) A varied species limited to the northeast of Madagascar. This form is generally ochre-colored with a single brown band around the suture and a pale pink-tipped spire. The lip color is purple-brown. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 25-28mm Ampelita (A.) sepulchralis (Fèrrusac, 1822) Endemic to Madagascar. Do not confuse with A. lamarei sakalava. The flaring white lip is less produced, but no less spectacular. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 32-39mm Ampelita xystera (Pfeiffer, 1846) This species is the type species of the subgenus Xystera, which have sharply keeled shells. The chocolate-brown color blends nicely with shiny black lip. The species is limited to the northeastern part of Madagascar. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 36-40mm Ampelita xystera novacula (Martens, 1879) A rare form of A. xystera with a malleated surface above the sharply keeled periphery. It is also generally smaller than the nominate form. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 34-42mm Ampelita xystera shavi (E.A.Smith, 1879) A sharply keeled ochre-colored form with a deep umbilicus. Smaller than the typical xystera forms. From southeast Madagascar. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 30-35mm |

FAMILY: ARIOPHANTIDAE Asperitas everetti (E.A.Smith, 1897) Deep forest green color; dark purple spire color. Limited range on Flores Island. One of the most spectacular green-colored land shells. These are of superb quality. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 40-47mm больше Asperitas everetti (E.A.Smith, 1897) Localized color form The color of Asperitas everetti varies little throughout its range on Flores Island; mostly emerald green to brown. This very localized population is more of a grassy green color with the spire and upper whorls covered in a grayish-green cuticle or periostracum. This are quite unusual and handsome shells with strong contrast between the green base, gray cuticle and dark purple spire. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 38-45mm на линейке Asperitas stuartiae yani Dharma, 1999 One of a number of slight forms found on Timor. The type locality of this species is Salayar Island, almost 500 kilometers west of Timor. A dark columellar area is characteristic of this form. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 36-40mm Asperitas trochus Müller, 1774 This species inhabits the western islands of the Nusa Tenggara group of Indonesia. It is a variable species, mostly found with various banding patterns. This remote, small island population is pure white, and extremely uncommon in collections. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 27-34mm Asperitas trochus polymorpha (E.A.Smith, 1897) As the subspecies name implies, this is an extremely polymorphic, or varied species. This lot has at least three distinct color forms, with numerous transitional variations. This is one shell that will stand out amongst others in your collection. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 26-31mm картинка побольше другая расцветка Asperitas bimaensis Asperitas sparsa baliensis |

FAMILY: ARIOPHANTIDAE Dyakia rumphii (von dem Busch, 1842) LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 34-36mm Dyakia braammorrisi (P. & F. Sarasin, 1899) Species in the genus Dyakia were only known from Borneo, Sumatra and west Java. This species represents the only Dyakia from Sulawesi, formerly classified and described in the genus Hemiplecta. It is also one of the largest species in the genus. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 45-48mm Dyakia salangana (Martens,1883) большое фото Dyakia kintana(de Morgan,1885) Kalidos bathensis Robson, 1914 One of the largest species of the genus. The shell is thin, but sturdy. This lot is the finest I have had in recent years. LOCALITY: Madagascar SIZE: 55-63mm |

FAMILY: ARIOPHANTIDAE Elaphroconcha bimaensis cochlostyloides [form: viridis] (Schepman, 1892) Beautiful mint-green coloration, with brownish-orange color on leading edge of body whorl. One of the truly outstanding land shells. Benthem Jutting (1958) places this species in the genus Elaphroconcha, which was formerly placed in genera Asperitas, Nanina, and Xesta. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 46-50mm увеличить Elaphroconcha javacensis ракушки на линейке Elaphroconcha cochlostyloides другой ракурс Naninia doriae (Tapparone Canefri, 1880) Endemic to Biak Island, off Irian Jaya. A smooth shell with rounded whorls. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 37-42mm Naninia banggaiensis (Kobelt, 1896) From the remote Banggai Islands off eastern Sulawesi, Indonesia. As with many of the large colorful Ariophantids, N. banggaiensis is extremely varied in color and pattern. In fact, almost all of the shells in this lot are different from each other. FAMILY: ARIOPHANTIDAE Hemiplecta oblique-undulata Benthem Jutting, 1959 Large, thin shell with wrinkled surface sculpture. Wrongly sold as H. goliath, which is a larger species lacking the corrugated shell sculpture. Hyphened species names are invalid, but since we do not have an emendation for this name, the named proposed in the original description is being used. This species is quite rare. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 48-52mm Hemiplecta rugata (von Martens, 1864) A large, solid shell from the deep forested areas of south Sulawesi Island. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 46-50mm Hemiplecta weberi weberi (P.& F. Sarasin, 1899) Endemic to islands off southern Sulawesi. This is the nominate form of the species. LOCALITY: Indonesia SIZE: 47-53mm Hemiplecta wichmanni P.& F. Sarasin, 1899 Found only in southern Sulawesi Island.
